Camp St. Elmo, Colorado

You have just got to see the natural beauty of the 14,000 foot pikes.
This is 3 days of 1 day trips. Rated as 2 ½ dry and 3 if it is real wet.

This is one of my favorite places. We will be starting out of Buena Vista, CO. Located on Hwy. 24 and 285. The Motels or RV’s work best in this area, but there is also camping in the area along the Arkansas River. The area sits below the 14,000 ft., Mt. Princeton, Mt Yale and Mt. Harvard at about 8,000 ft. We will attempt to reach some of the tops Mother Nature willing. One of the nicest unchanged towns of Colorado St. Elmo, is history alive and we are here to enjoy it. Over the hill (Mountain) is Tin Cup another nice Historic Town this can be a little extra fun to get to if the lake is up. We have the opportunity to visit Hancock Pass, Cumberland Pass and Pitkin..

The trips all leave from the South end of town at the junction of Hwy. 24 and 285. They depart at 8:45 AM and will return about 4:00 to 6:00 PM. You will need to bring a lunch and snacks each day. The Weather, it can start out sunny and cloud up and rain or hail in a very short time. Be prepared with rain gear and extra set of warm clothes if it should turn cold.

We will be in Historic Mining Districts that have numerous mines, some with vertical shafts and drifts with rotting timbers. There are many old buildings in the same decaying condition. Entering any of these are dangerous and could prove to be fatal. Use your own judgment as to what you want to do! Watch your children and pets very close.

There are other attractions in the area if you arrive early or stay later, Rafting the Arkansas River, Horse back riding at Mt. Princeton, or the trip to Leadville to ride the Narrow Gage Train.

Special Equipment; C.B. Radio, Tow Strap, Rain Gear, Spare warm clothes, Binoculars, and your camera with extra film.

This trip is a exceptional one for the whole family. The price for the trip is per vehicle. There are no accommodations or meals included in this trip.

This is our planned itinerary and is subject to always subject to change do to, weather, or any unforeseen conditions. Western Adventures hopes that this will be one adventure that you will always cherish. I am looking forward to seeing you on this adventure very soon!

Thank You,

Western Adventures
