El Marmol & Whales: (6 day)

The Northern to the Central both sides of the Peninsula in 6 days. Rated as 2 ½

Mission, El Marmol & Whales: (7 day)

The 7 day trip rated as a 3 because of a side trip to Mission Santa Maria.

We will meet in Chula Vista, California . The location is at the Denny’s Restaurant at the "E" Street and I-805 exit in Chula Vista, CA, USA We will leave at 8:00 AM or when we are all ready. You can buy your Mexican Insurance on-line. There is a La Quinta Inn Motel at this location Ph. (619) 691-1211. The Mexican Government has a new charge for all visitors going beyond Ensenada of $15.00. This charge is not included in the cost of the adventure.

Our route south on I-805 to Tijuana. We will use the Toll Road to Ensenada. There are 3 toll booths before Ensenada from $1.75 to $2.25 each. Heading south on Hwy. 1 we will stop again in San Vicente for gas and lunch at the park or restaurant which ever you choose. We still have 150 mi. To Catavina. Our first day will be a long one. We have a nice hotel waiting for us after our drive. If we arrive early enough we can take a short drive and short hike to old Indian Rock Paintings. We will spend the first night at Catavina. Day two (7-D) on the trip is a side trip to Santa Maria Mission ruins, than back to the hotel at Catavina. Day two (6-D)we will be on the road to Gurrero Negro (Hotel) and we are off to "Scammon’s Lagoon" to watch for Whales. The seven day trip adds one day to the remaining days. Day three (four) we will have to go through El Arco to our remote camp site. We will have to rough it as there is no easy way to get to see this beautiful area from a hotel. Day four (five) with the Gulf awaiting our arrival, we will push on with an early start to beautiful Bay of L.A. for gas, we continue to Mission San Bora (a super nice mission). We will have to rough it one more time, but we are now real good at setting up a camp. Day five (six) with a full tank of gas it’s off to San Felipe, this is one of the dustiest, bumpiest and slowest sections of the trip. San Felipe, a hot shower, good hot meal with some cold refreshment to celebrate. We get to sleep in or go shopping before we have to leave. With our tanks filled it’s 4 hours to the U.S. at Calexico.

This Adventure includes two nights lodging(6 day) and three nights lodging (7 day). The meals in the restaurants and any food and beverages are your responsibility. You will be camping out for three nights so you need to go over your check list (sent when we get your deposit) to remember everything.
