Grand Canyon / North Side

Visit and enjoy the more remote locations of the Grand Canyon and the Arizona Strip. 3 Day trip. Rated as a 2½ dry or 3 wet.

This adventure starts from St. George, Utah. We will meet at the Denny’s Restaurant on Main St. Just off of the I-15, north/west of the freeway. This trip is three days and two nights in the historic Arizona Strip.

We will leave south on I-15 and exit at Black Rock Road. This first section will wind us through the canyons and to the Pine and Cedar covered hills. The Elevations will be about 4,000 ft. We will circle around Poverty Knoll and visit the old Mt. Trumbull School house.

We will travel the valley and the "Main Street" a historic road. This leads us south towards the Grand Canyon in an area that most people never see. We will pass a very remote Bar 10 lodge on our way out and this can be our first nights lodging on our way out if the group wants to take advantage of it (not included in cost of the adventure) or we can camp out. We will drive over some old lava flows and see where a flow tried to block the mighty Colorado River.

The following morning we will be off to some good four-wheeling as we climb the mountains towards Mt. Logan and Mt.Trumbull. This climb will take us up to some scenic views of the surrounding plateaus where you can see hundreds of miles. We will drop down to the valleys and over to the more abrupt cliffs at Toroweap in the Grand Canyon.

This is the sight of our next nights camp sight. We will be high above the canyon with it’s spectacular views. This is a location for those once in a lifetime photo opportunity spots.

After we all get ready we are headed back to the mountains and St. George where we should arrive by late afternoon.

This adventure is very remote and you will not be able to buy gas once we leave St. George , UT. You will need to bring at least 10 gal. or more of gas depending on the range of your vehicle. Off-highway driving can reduce MPG by 20 to 45% depending on the terrain.

Special Equipment: C.B. Radio, Extra water, 10 Gal. of gas, Tow strap, Camping Gear for the needs of your occupants, Camera & film, Food for Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners and snacks and drinks for 3 days.

This is our planned itinerary and is always subject to change do to; Weather, or any unforeseen conditions. Western Adventures hopes this will be one adventure you will always cherish. I hope to see you on one of our trips real soon!

Thank You,

Western Adventures
